Parenting: Protecting your Children with your words
This image was created for Alright Mate CIC, for a booklet they made about fatherhood and lockdown, using real interviews with fathers that were conducted over Zoom.
Inspiration
In this image, a parent’s hands tentatively assemble a house of cards, that contain and protect a small infant who crawls underneath, and a toddler who is climbing the structure, threatening to pull it down. The cards have words/commands on them to indicate the way parents may sometimes employ language to protect their children and try to rationally contain or diffuse a situation where there may be overwhelming emotions
