Illustrations made in response to transcribed speech

The following illustrations were made after interviewing a set of participants about their dreams. The interviews were transcribed, and after a process of close reading, phrases were chosen from which to create illustrations. Rather than representing the surface-level content of each dream, the illustrations were created as responses to the phrases. This untethering from the original narrative allowed for new meanings to unravel. The process enabled the dreamers to access hitherto un-thought-of resonances within their dreams, changing the way they were able to understand them.
