Dreams: Like an empty new look
An illustration from my MA research project looking at dreams and narratives
Inspiration
For this project I made illustrations based on a phrases lifted from research participants’ dream journals, which I then responded to, drawing on my own associations to the phrase. The phrase I chose for this image was: like an empty new look, which to me, taken out of context, felt quite odd and ambiguous, and I wanted to draw on the idea of a gaze that was empty and mysterious.
Method
The textures within the eye were made using scans of handmade marbled paper. The colour, details of the eye, and hand lettering were added digitally.
