Desire: Stepping into neatly tended borders
An image from a set of illustrations commissioned for a poetry book about desire.
Inspiration:
As I was reading through this collection of poetry, a number of poems spoke to the idea of desire as a transgression; as crossing a border or boundary to grab hold of something which is forbidden.
Method:
The background texture, the shape of the rose petals, leaves and hands were created using black india ink in separate drawings which were scanned and combined in Photoshop. These were manipulated digitally before adding digital colour and extra details.
